Steven E. Robertson (b.1980, Glasgow, SCO) is a painter whose work is informed by lived experience, exploring queer identity through themes of longing, nostalgia and self-worth. Balancing humour, irreverence and melancholy, he draws on borrowed lyrics, memory, and staged narratives to construct a personal visual language in which vulnerability, defiance, and self-recognition occupy the same space. Robertson studied Sculpture at Glasgow School of Art (2004–8) and has exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions throughout Glasgow, where he lives and works. Alongside his studio practice, he has also worked extensively within film and television art departments.
