Richard Owen (b.1964, Llanharan, CYM) is a Welsh artist based in Glasgow. In his work, he merges the visual language and techniques of high art, popular culture, craft, fashion, text and music to reflect on and try to make sense of the images and information we are bombarded with each day. Recent artworks include embroideries, furniture and ceramics as well as paintings and drawings. Owen has a BA in painting from Cheltenham College of Art (1996) and an MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, London (1997). His work has been exhibited in the UK, Europe and South America, most recently in New Waves, at Transmission Gallery, Glasgow and in the VAS exhibition, A Seat at the Table at Wasps, South Block, Glasgow.
