Jake Harvey
Born in 1948 in Kelso in the Scottish Borders, Jake was Head of the School of Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art for eleven years. He is Emeritus Professor of Sculpture University of Edinburgh and lives and works in Maxton in the Scottish Borders. His fascination is with drawing out of the earth that which is very ancient and giving it new form, a form that can itself be sometimes reminiscent of some ancient artefact with a vital but long-forgotten use. His work has both a distilled, contemplative quality and sense of contained energy.
