Michael Maskell (b. 1990, Reading, ENG) is a painter whose work explores the psychodynamics of his experiences. Michael’s paintings are unplanned and unrehearsed, as a way of gaining access to forgotten imagery, histories and the conditions in which they now sit. He seeks to expand this world through visualising narratives on canvas, a process akin to someone seeking narratives from the surface of disrupted water. Once expressed in the secrecy of night, images of hedonism are hard to recall in the sun. Michael’s work has been included in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and various group exhibitions, including Queeriosities, Irving Gallery and Outsider Arts Club. In 2023 he had a solo exhibition at Oliver Spencer, Soho.
