Laure Carré (b. 1968, La Roche Sur Yon, FR) suggests a universe, in her drawings and paintings, where the improbable rubs shoulders with the real, where the humorous verges on the cruel, and where the human meets the animal. Intriguing figures appear as if in dreams, which leave a fleeting memory when you wake. Carré studied at Parsons School of Design, New York (1991), the École supérieure des arts appliqués Duperré, Paris, (1989–90), and the École supérieure des arts appliqués Olivier de Serres, Paris (1988). Her work has been exhibited widely in Europe, the USA and Japan, including Galerie Amélie Du Charlard Paris/New York, Galerie Schönfeld Bruxelles/Anvers, Galerie Gratadou Paris, Galeries Airspace et Landon New York, Galeries Yokohama, Sawada et Biwa, Tokyo. She lives and works in Nantes.
