Eric Bainbridge (b. 1955, Consett, ENG) is known for his absurd and playful sculptural assemblages. Rising to prominence in the 1980s, Bainbridge is celebrated for recontextualising Modernist principles using everyday materials such as synthetic fur, melamine, and reclaimed steel to investigate domestic culture and traditional sculptural hierarchies. His work has been exhibited widely, including at the Walker Art Centre, the Stedelijk Museum, the Royal Academy of Art, and two Venice Biennales.
